Rebekah Dixon Intro to Mental Health
WAFSC has partnered with Rebekah Dixon to offer an introductory mental health training program.
- 15th Oct - Skaters 7pm - 7:45pm (AWST)
- 15th Oct - Coaches 8pm - 8:45pm (AWST)
- 22nd Oct - Parents 7pm - 7:45pm (AWST)
Participation in this introductory mental training program will teach you the basics of how the mind impacts your performance on the ice. Together, with other skaters, we will focus on developing skills to eliminate self-doubt and increase confidence, control competition nerves, and overcome perfectionism. During the 45 minute online calls, there will be teaching, group work and discussion, creating an interactive experience that is fun and hands-on.
Whether you are outgoing or not, there is never any pressure. Most skaters are surprised how quickly they become comfortable in the group and seize the opportunity to talk about their experiences pretty early on. One of the biggest assets of a small group is learning from one another! You see that you are not alone in your struggles and are motivated to do the work because you have others to be accountable to.
Javier Fernandez Figure Skating Camp
by Cockburn Ice Arena
Come and join us for the after-Swan Figure Skating camp and workshops featuring Javier Fernandez with Jonathan Guerreiro from Thursday 2 October to Sunday 5 October, 2025.
Javier is no stranger to presenting great camps for emerging skaters. He is fresh off ‘Art of Skating’ in Europe and together with Jonathan, has presented camps in North America, Europe and Australia. This is the first time in Perth, Western Australia.
Sessions will include jumps, spins, skating skills, performance and choreography. Each day will have an off ice component in ballet and flexibility with Zamira Ketechieva (Rhythmic Gymnastics and Ballet USSR).
Skaters will also have a virtual education session with Emelia Ashan, Sports Nutritionist and Australian representative at numerous World Junior Championships.
There will also be a special jump intensive workshop on Saturday 4 October. Sessions will be allocated to skating level and ability.
We have also catered for our Adult Skaters with workshops on Saturday 4 October and Sunday 4 October.
Coaches are permitted provided they register. They must support the camp and have a student/s register. Please note: the jump intensive is a closed session for students only.
